1. Who we are

RaceCoach is made by Traditio Digitalis Consulting Ltd, a company registered in Ireland (CRO number 795743), registered office Kinard Cottage, Kilbride, Arklow, Co. Wicklow, Y14 KH22, Ireland. We are the data controller for the personal data described here. Contact us at jon@traditiodigitalis.com or by post at that address.

2. What we collect

What we hold depends on your plan. On the Free plan your boat data stays on your phone; we hold only your account. On Entry and Pro, your boat data is stored in our cloud so it syncs and can be shared with your crew.

DataExamplesWhere it is kept
AccountEmail address, password (stored only as a secure hash), sign-in times, and the IP address and device details of your sign-ins, which our sign-in system keeps for securityOur cloud, all plans
Boats and crewBoat names, who owns a boat, who crews on it, invites you send or receiveOur cloud (Entry and Pro); your phone (Free)
Performance Log and Session NotesSail and rig settings, conditions, text notes, voice notes, photosOur cloud (Entry and Pro); your phone (Free)
Vakaros importsGPS track, speed, heading and timing from sessions you importOur cloud (Entry and Pro)
LocationYour position while the app is open, used for the Navigation map, speed, heading and VMGWe don't store it or send it to our servers: it's shown on your phone only. While the Navigation map is open, Google receives your device's IP address and may receive your position to show the map (see Google in section 4). The only location we store is the GPS track inside a Vakaros session you import
SubscriptionYour plan, its status and renewal dates (not your card details, which Apple or Google hold)Our cloud and RevenueCat
Crash reportsDevice type, app version, what the app was doing when it failed, a sample of app performance measurements, and a random identifier for your installation of the app. We don't attach your name, email or account, and Sentry is set not to store your IP addressSentry
FeedbackWhat you write in the feedback form. The form doesn't ask for or collect your name or email, so please don't type personal details into itGoogle Forms

The app asks your permission before it uses location, the microphone (voice notes), the camera or your photos (photo notes). You can refuse or change these in your phone's settings; the related feature then won't work.

3. How we use it, and why we're allowed to

We use your data only to run RaceCoach. We don't sell it, and we don't use it to build profiles for anyone else. RaceCoach currently shows no ads.

We send you service emails only: password-reset codes when you ask for one, and the inactivity warning described in section 6. If we ever offer other emails, we'll ask you first.

4. Who can see your data

Your crew. Everyone on the same boat, owner and crew, can see each other's email address in the crew list. The owner can see the boat's data and, depending on the owner's plan, crew can view it or also add and edit entries. If you join a boat as crew, entries you add there are stored with that boat in our cloud, whatever your own plan.

Invites. An owner invites crew by sharing an invite code from the app, for example by message. We don't send invite emails, and an invite doesn't hold your email address. An invite expires after 48 hours.

Our service providers. These companies handle data so RaceCoach can run. Supabase, Resend, RevenueCat and Sentry process it for us, only for RaceCoach and under written agreements. Google and Apple decide for themselves how they use the data they receive, under their own privacy policies:

ProviderWhat it does for usWhere
SupabaseDatabase, sign-in and file storage (your boats, notes, photos, voice notes, Vakaros sessions)United Kingdom (London)
ResendSends password-reset emailsUnited States company; emails sent from its EU (Ireland) region
RevenueCatKeeps track of your subscription statusUnited States
SentryCrash reportsEuropean Union (Germany); Sentry is a United States company
GoogleMaps on the Navigation page: while the map is open, Google receives your IP address and may receive your position. Billing for Android subscriptions through Google PlayUnder Google's own privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy
AppleBilling for iOS subscriptions through the App StoreUnder Apple's own privacy policy: apple.com/legal/privacy

We may also disclose data where the law requires it.

5. Transfers outside the EU

Your data is stored in the United Kingdom. The European Commission has decided that the UK protects personal data to an adequate standard; that decision runs to 27 December 2031. Where a provider is in the United States (Resend and RevenueCat), the transfer is covered by the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, and the UK addendum to them, in our agreement with that provider. Sentry keeps our crash reports in its EU region. Google and Apple handle data under their own privacy policies. You can ask us for a copy of the safeguards.

6. How long we keep your data

7. Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time in the app: Account > Delete account. You can also ask us to delete it without the app: see Delete your RaceCoach account. Deletion is permanent and can't be undone.

When you delete your account:

Deleting your account does not cancel a paid subscription. Cancel it first in your App Store or Google Play subscriptions, or you'll keep being charged. Apple and Google keep their own billing records. Deleted data is removed from our live systems straight away; copies in our backups are overwritten within 7 days, and files may stay in temporary caches for a short time.

8. Your rights

You can ask us to:

Write to jon@traditiodigitalis.com or to our registered office (section 1). We answer within one month. If you're not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Data Protection Commission in Ireland (dataprotection.ie) or to the authority where you live.

9. Children

RaceCoach is not meant for anyone under 16. We don't knowingly hold data about them; if we learn that we do, we delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

We'll post any change here with a new date, and tell you in the app before a significant change takes effect.
